Our
Programs |

Preschool-Kindergarten
Program (3 through 6 years) |
| |
This
program includes both children of preschool age
and those who may attend a half-day kindergarten
session elsewhere during part of the day. By
maitaining a low teacher /child ratio of 1:6 or
lower, daily and ongoing personal interactions with
children help facilitate our ability to meet the
individual needs of children. Not only are
children afforded meaningful opportunities to develop
life skills (interacting with others, turn taking,
decision making, and resolving conflicts constructively),
the planned curriculum encourages children's active
involvement in the learning process through hands-on
and interactive actyivities and experiences in individual,
small or large group settings. Curriculum
webs and lesson plans are available for parents
to review at all times.
The physical environment
is set up with a variety of learning center areas
that include: blocks and construction, math manipulatives,
emergent literacy to include books, writing, listening
interest areas, computer and technology, the creative
arts and music, science and discovery, dramatic
play, fine and gross motor activities, and outside
play. Teacher facilitated learning experiences
are based on observations and responses to child-initiated
ideas and activites during self-selected choice
time. |

Summer
Day Camp Program (3 through 8 years)
|
| |
As
an extension, including all aspects of our Fall
and Spring Semester program, children through second
grade are included during
Summer Semester. The Summer Day Camp program
consists of three 4-week sessions. Parents
may enroll for one , two or all three sessions.
Each Day Camp session focuses oon in-depth and stimulating
learning project children particularly enjoy. An
integrated curriculum format (math, science, social
studies, language arts and reading, computer technology,
and the creative arts) is utilized throughout all
indoor and outdoor interest areas
Children are engaged
in a daily variety of hands-on, relevant activites
and experiences including weekly on-campus field
trips, special visitors, and/or cooking experiences.
Child initiated chioices are balanced with
teacher directed learning activites. Each session
culminates with a closing event planned by the children
for their family to participate in and enjoy. |

Child
Nutrition Program |
| |
Morning
and afternoon snacks and lunch are offered to children
in each program. Family-style dining in a
small group setting is used to foster a relaxed
and social atmosphere where children are encouraged
to try new foods and develop self-help skills such
as pouring, serving, and cleaning-up. Our
snack and lunch programs are supported in part through
the USDA Child Care Program as administered through
the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) Child
Nutrition Program. Staff members are trained
to follow nutritional guidelines in planning snacks
and USU Food Services is contracted and responsible
for planning balanced, multicutural, and appetizing
menus for lunch primarily to those children enrolled
on a full-day basis. |
